2010 Commonwealth Games - Delhi

The 2010 Commonwealth Games were chosen to be held in Delhi in 2003. The cities that have held the past games have not compared in size with Delhi, which now holds approximately 15 million people. This is also the first time India has hosted the games and only the second time it has been held in Asia. With plenty of history behind it and the village having been constructed in such a beautiful way it is anticipated that India will create much more attention in regards to recognition and travel even once the games are over.

Unfortunately, since 2003 there has been much controversy and delays in regards to getting to whole project under development. To begin with the federation chief, Mike Fennell, felt that the progress of sports venues were far behind schedule and would have to put tough restrictions in place to make sure that the venue was completed on time.

Although there were some delays in the beginning the venue is now ready the games and having Delhi host these games have allowed the city to be shown much recognition and the commonwealth games shall now go ahead in style.
